New Run Android on PC as Operating System

Android is a great OS but it is fully customized for touch screen devices like smartphones, tablets but we can also install Android on devices running on Intel based processor supports only arm based processor and can not be installed on Intel based computers. There is a solution for it “Android x86” open source project.
Android X86 has ports every Android version to X86 version which can be install on normal laptops and pcs and main OS.
There are few things you will need to understand before you proceed.

  1. We are installing ported version of Android as main Operating system on Windows based device so no Google play apps will run on it.

  2. You will be not able to run windows applications as only specially ported application will run on this operating system.

This is a simple tutorial based on How to install “Android on PC” as main operating system.
To install Android on pc as main operating system first download all necessary files, we can also dual boot Android and Windows 7 or Windows 8 easily if you want to dual boot your Current OS with Android then create a new active partition on your hard drive and install the version of Android on that particular partition.
You have heard of Android-x86 – Porting Android to x86 and that helps you to install Android on pc as a main operating system or dual boot and Windows, Mac or linux.
Things that you will need have to install android on pc:-

  • A USB disk drive ( Recommended :- learn How to Create a Bootable USB).

  • Download latest system image from Android-X86 (Please refer to :- http://code.google.com/p/android-x86/downloads/list).

  • Get your system ready for Installing a New OS, Android 4.3 needs only 1 Gb of space and you can use left space for apps.
(Please be sure if you want to install Android as main OS then proceed with this tutorial or You can also use Android through your USB drive same as we use live CDs without installing it as Operating system)

Now after all things done create a bootable USB (link for the tutorial) or just format your USB drive with NTFS file system and extract the downloaded image. After doing this boot from your USB drive and follow us as below :-

  • On the first screen you will see as in this image, Select “Installation – Install Android to hard drive” option.( You can also run it as Live CD, very first option).

  • In next step you will have to select the partition on which you want to install your Android OS.

  • In third screen, select the correct file system type. (be sure otherwise load will fail)

  • In next step you will have to choose “Yes” when setup asks you to install boot loader (Grub).

  • After finishing installation reboot your system and you are done.

If you are facing any problem while install, please do comment of ask us on Twitter or Facebook fan page. I tried to install Android OS on my laptop with Windows 8 and Linux and it works fine.

If everything goes right then you are going to get a perfect and true Android OS experience on PC.
